TROY, Ala. – Following an offensive outburst to claim its first conference win of the season, Troy looks to continue the momentum at the Troy Soccer Complex on Thursday night against one of the newest members of the Sun Belt Conference, Old Dominion.
The Trojans (3-5-2, 1-2-1 SBC) hope to avenge their first home loss of the season from Sept. 25 against Arkansas State with their first-ever meeting with the Monarchs (3-6-2, 1-2-1 SBC).
First Win in A-Town
Before Sunday's match against Georgia State, the Trojans were 0-9-1 at the GSU Soccer Complex. However, Halee Bradbury, Melissa Kuya-Strobel and Ashley Rainho helped lead the charge towards the program's first win on the road against the Panthers, 3-2.
Bradbury quickly gave Troy the 1-0 lead, scoring her first collegiate goal three minutes into the game off her right foot.
After GSU responded to tie the match up, 1-1, the Trojans punched in back-to-back goals. First, Gabrielle Chartier nailed the corner kick pass to Taytum Terrell, who had her shot blocked. The ball rebounded back to Kuya-Strobel, who rocketed it into the top center of the net for the 2-1 lead. Second, Rainho capitalized on some miscommunication for GSU in the 71st minute to give Troy the necessary cushion at 3-1.

First Encounter
Thursday night marks the first matchup between the two programs. Old Dominion became one of four teams to join the SBC for the 2022 season, converting from the C-USA conference.
The Monarchs' introduction to the SBC has them seated sixth in the east division with six matches remaining in the season. Their latest match saw ODU finish at a 2-2 draw against South Alabama.
Senior Carla Morich single-handedly kept the Monarchs from being dethroned by the Jaguars, scoring two unassisted goals, which included the tying goal in the 74th minute.
Morich's two goals against USA account for 19 percent of the goals this season for ODU. Megan Watts has been the beacon of light for the Monarchs with a team-high five points off two goals and an assist. One of those goals was the game-winner over Louisiana to award ODU its first SBC victory.
