PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Troy University sophomore Brantley Scott capped an incredible showing at the NCAA Invitational in the Bahamas with a third-place finish as the Trojans finished the tournament with an eighth-place finish.
For the first time this season, a Troy golfer has posted a sub-70 outing in all three rounds of a tournament. Scott accomplished that feat at the Ocean Club course on Sunday, shooting a 67 to finish tied for third among all competitors. He recorded just one bogey and added six birdies to finish the day five under par.
Nicklas Borrmann posted his first score under 70 of the season during round three of the NCAA Invitational. His tournament concluded with a 213 that included an eagle on the 16th hole. His third round saw just one bogey and two birdies, and he finished his trip to Paradise tied for 27th overall.
Jake Springer rebounded after shooting a 75 during round two yesterday by scoring even par on Sunday morning. His front nine scorecard saw a minus-one effort after recording three birdies. However, that score was erased by two bogeys on the back nine. He finished the tournament tied for 39th overall.
The man he was tied with is teammate Will Simpson who concluded his first tournament of the season. Simpson was solid all tournament long, hover over the 72 mark for most of the tournament. He finished his round on Sunday with a 73 to score a 218 overall.
Will McFadden finishes last on the Trojan leaderboard for the first time this season. He rebounded after back-to-back bogeys on the third and fourth holes with two birdies on six and seven. However, a plus-two effort on the back nine left him with a 74 and a 220 finish at the Bahamas.
