TROY, Ala. – After a fifth-place finish at the GMAC Invitational in late September, the Troy University men's golf team will head to Little Rock, Arkansas, to participate in the Little Rock Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
The men's golf team has been able to net two top-10 finishes this season in both of their tournaments to begin the 2022-23 campaign. The Trojans started the year with an eighth-place finish at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate before finishing fifth out of 12 teams in a tournament hosted by UAB.
Troy has had many different contributions from the lineup throughout the first two outings of the year. In the GMAC Invitational, it was Brantley Scott who led the way for Troy in Gadsden, Alabama.
He would finish the tournament with a 221 score that was good enough to be tied for fifth overall among all participants. During Scott's third round, he posted birdies on three of the first four holes to set himself up for success.
A mainstay in the Trojan lineup, Will McFadden, finished just behind his teammate Scott in the standings after three rounds at the tournament hosted by UAB. Although he shot his highest total of the tournament in the third round, McFadden managed a top-15 performance and finished just three strokes behind Scott for the team lead.
The action from Chenal Country Club will be just the second time this season that the Trojans will participate in a two-day tournament. Troy will play in this format three more times this season, including the last tournament of the year in the Mossy Oak Collegiate in early April.
