TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Troy women's tennis drops its first match of the spring season, 7-0, to Alabama at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Alabama (2-0) proved too much for the Trojans (0-1) with the clean sweep for the second year in a row.
Falling Early
The Tide took the advantage early in double's competition as the Trojans fell 2-0 after Michelle Ncube / Kristina Kukaras lost to Ola Pitak / Kasia Pitak, 6-0.
Chiara Desia Debarno / Franziska Ahrend followed suit on court two, dropping 6-1 against Petra Sedlackova / Anna Parkhomenko, leaving the Andrea Widing / Anastasiia Khokhlova match unfinished at 4-2.
Ncube Fights Back
With the Trojans down 1-0, single's competition had begun. And with it, more of the same, starting with Anne Marie Hiser taking both sets over Olivia Elliot, 6-0.
The Trojans dropped the following three points before Ncube delivered a fight. Despite dropping the first set 6-1, she won the Trojans' first and only set of the match, 6-4.
Going into the third set, Ncube went back-and-forth with Alabama's Sedlackova before falling 1-0 and giving the Tide their fifth point.
