TROY, Ala. – The Troy Women's Tennis squad is set to open their fall campaign Friday at Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic in Macon, Georgia.
The Trojans are coming off a quarterfinals appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Championship last season. The Trojans will boast a young squad comprised of a freshman, four sophomores and two juniors.
"It's definitely exciting to start the first competition of the fall season," head coach Rawai Elsieie. "The girls are excited and ready to compete. Mercer always hosts a great tournament throughout the weekend, and they bring in many strong teams from all over the south. There are going to be plenty of matches, both singles and doubles, and it is the exact "competition" we are looking for us to start our season."
Troy is led by Michelle Ncube, who posted an 8-7 dual singles record with six of those wins coming on court four. The junior went 3-3 inside Sun Belt Conference matches and 6-12 in dual doubles record.
This weekend's lineup will feature Olivia Elliott, Anastasiia Khokhlova, Kristina Kukaras, Michelle Ncube and Andrea Widing.
