Women's Golf Fifth at Sea Best Jacksonville Classic

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Behind a 1-over opening two rounds from ShaeLee Scarberry, the Troy women's golf team is in fifth place following Monday's opening day of the Sea Best Jacksonville Classic at the Marsh Landing Country Club.
Scarberry is tied for seventh place following rounds of 72 and 73 and is only four shots off the pace. She finished the day with six total birdies, including four in the second round. Elisabeth Preus is four shots back of Scarberry in a tie for 18thplace with three birdies on her card.
Tulane carries a 6-shot advantage over Jacksonville and an 8-shot lead over Lipscomb into Tuesday's final round.
Anna Claire Little sits in 22nd place at 7-over par thanks to a strong opening round of 1-over which included an eagle on the par-4 10th, her opening hole of the day. Bruna Roqueta is tied for 24th place at 9-over and Elizabeth Caldarelli is tied for 30th place at 10-over.
Alyssa Mercado led Troy's three individuals with a strong 36 holes on Monday as she is tied for 14th place at 4-over par. Mercado opened with a 75 before firing a 1-over 73 in the second round. Binson Hall made her collegiate debut and is in 42nd place while Brooklyn Bostick is in 44th place.
Teams are set for a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. (CT) Tuesday with the Trojans opening on holes six thru 10 along with USC Upstate and Seminole State.
