TROY, Ala. – Despite a first half defensive battle, Louisiana sparked second-half momentum to down Troy, 2-0, Friday night at the Troy Soccer Complex.

The match started off in a defensive deadlock as the Trojans (3-5-1, 0-2-0 SBC) and Ragin' Cajuns (4-6-1, 1-1-0 SBC) battled toe-to-toe through the first 40 minutes of action.

The best look of the first half came when Louisiana's offense flooded the box, but a Ruthny Mahurin shot was deflected by Troy defender Kate Eubanks. Â The failed scoring opportunity kept the game scoreless heading into the halftime break.

Despite a shot attempt by Julianne Hester and a corner kick, it was Louisiana that found the back of the net first off a shot by Hailly Waterhouse in the 66th-minute.

After a stoppage in play due to injury, LA Beck recorded the Ragin' Cajuns' second goal of the night in the 84th-minute.

Troy's offense refused to back down, firing off a pair of shots seconds later, but the Trojans could not find the goals necessary to keep the match alive.
