CHOUDRANT, La. – Kyle Cornelius fired a 1-under 71 thanks to back-to-back birdies to close out his round as he led the Troy men's golf team in Monday's second round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at the Squire Creek Golf Club. Troy fell a few spots on the leaderboard into 11^th place, but the Trojans find themselves just four shots back of a top-six finish in the 20-team field.

Cornelius was 1-over following his first 16 holes of the day with 15 pars and just one bogey; he broke a run of 11 straight pars with a birdie on the par-5 17^th and followed with another birdie on the par-4 18^th to close out his round in the red. Cornelius' strong round pushed him up the leaderboard into a tie for 52^nd place.

Will McFadden maintained his place on the top of Troy's team card with a 2-over 74 thanks to the strength of three birdies; he is tied for 18^th place overall and is only two shots off a top-10 finish. After shooting 3-under yesterday, freshman Brantley Scott slipped a little in Monday's round with a 5-over 77 to fall back into a tie for 43^rd place.

Nicklas Borrmann is a shot behind Cornelius in a tie for 60^th place at 4-over for the week following a 4-over 76 in Monday's round, which featured a pair of birdies. In his second collegiate round, freshman Jake Springer shaved nine strokes off his opening round score to shoot even par and climb 12 spots up the leaderboard.
