MOBILE, Ala. – For the second consecutive season, the Troy women's cross-country team has been crowned the Azalea City Classic champions, while the men brought home second place Friday at the Old Brookley Golf Course.
""I was very happy with the team's effort today," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "For the most part, we executed the race plan effectively, but there is always room for improvement before the Sun Belt Championships."
Highlighted by three top-five finishes, the women's squad tallied 26 points to earn their first win of the season.
Gracie Booher led the way with a career best second-place finish with a time of 19:14.2, while Lauren Locke and Caroline Sall also landed inside the top-five, placing third and fifth, respectively. Cadi Rowe and Teanna Cason found themselves inside the top-10, finishing eighth and 10th.
Locke, Sall and Cason also all recorded career-best finishes.
For the men, it was Blake Vaughn who led the way, placing eighth in 16:47.2. Mason Bennett rounded out Troy's top-10 finishes placing 10th in 16:53.7. James Brake just missed the top-10 finishing 11th overall in 17:11.9.
