Â
TROY, Ala. – Troy Director of Athletics Brent Jones announced Thursday that long-time head athletic trainer Alyson Gramley has been promoted to Associate Director of Athletics of Athletic Training and Chief Health Care Administrator.
Â
"This is an incredibly well-deserved promotion for Alyson, and we are extremely appreciative of her work the past 17 months leading our COVID-19 efforts for our student-athletes, staff and coaches," Jones said. "Alyson is well-respected across the country among her peers and leads a department that is at the forefront of the industry. She undertook the yeoman's task of spearheading Troy's Athletics COVID-19 policies and procedures and did a remarkable job in protecting the health and well-being of everyone associated with Troy Athletics."
Â
Gramley is beginning her 18th season with Troy Athletics and her 13th season working directly with the football program. In addition to her responsibilities with the Troy football team, she coordinates all of Troy's orthopedic clinic visits with Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Center and developed Troy's Mental Health Best Practice Plan and Emergency Action Plan. Gramley also revamped Troy's student-athlete drug testing policy and enhanced Troy's collaborative efforts with its local physicians.Â
Â
Gramley serves as the chair for Collegiate Committee and the Scholarship and Awards Committee for the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association (ALATA) and was named the organization's College and University Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2018; she also currently serves on the ALATA's Executive Committee.
Â
She also served as the athletic trainer for the volleyball team from 2005-07 and with the football program since 2008. She worked with the men's basketball program for 11 seasonsÂ
before assuming her current role.
Â
Additionally, Gramley spent the 2006-07 academic year assigned to the Alabama Sports Medicine Outreach Program. This program was a joint effort between Troy and Dr. James Andrews' orthopedic group designed to assist area high schools.
Â
Gramley earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Troy in 1999, then spent time teaching science at Pike Liberal Arts in Troy and Dixie Academy in Louisville, Ala.Â
Â
Following her teaching stint, she returned to Troy as a graduate assistant in the athletic training department. While there she worked on her master's degree in education, which she earned in 2004.Â
Â
Gramley and her daughter, Meredith, reside in Troy.
