TROY, Ala. – Troy head volleyball coach Josh Lauer announced the addition of Janelle Stuempfig to the 2021 signing class Tuesday afternoon. Stuempfig, a setter, is the third member of Lauer's fifth recruiting class at Troy and will enroll at Troy University in the summer of 2021.
"We are very excited to add Janelle to our 2021 class," Lauer said. "She is a high character person, a proven winner, and comes to Troy with an extremely high volleyball IQ. Janelle's growth and experience at both Hamilton High School and the Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club will allow her transition to the college game to be very smooth. Janelle is also very driven as a student and we cannot wait to have her join our Troy volleyball family this summer as we prepare to have a great season this fall."
Stuempfig joins the Trojans from Hamilton High School in Sussex, Wisc. where she led the Chargers to an 18-1 record and a Division I state championship her senior year, the school's first-ever state championship by a women's team. Stuempfig tallied 2,100 assists in her career to become the school's all-time leader in the category.
The 2019 AAU All-American and 2020 Under Armour All-America Nominee also posted 725 digs, 158 aces and 192 kills during her career. Stuempfig was a unanimous All-State First Team selection in 2020 and was a three-time All-Conference honoree, including first-team recognition in 2020.
Stuempfig played club volleyball with the Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club, the same club as current Troy outside hitter Ashley Guenveur.
