Troy Primed for NCAA Preliminary Championships

TROY, Ala. – Seven Trojans are set to compete at the 2021 East Preliminary Track & Field Championships Wednesday through Saturday in Jacksonville. Fla. Athletes need to finish in the top 12 in their respective events to qualify for the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
Matthew Likely (200m), Titus Sizemore (HJ), Michael Alvernaz (HT) and Cole Stewart (Javelin) will represent the men while Gemma Finch (800m), Edita Sklenska (800m) and Maja Kuessner (HJ) will compete on the women's side.

The men's throwers – Alvernaz and Stewart – will begin the action for Troy at the meet, competing at 12:30 p.m. on day one. Likely will close out the first day for the Trojans on the track in the men's 200m at 7:45 p.m.
Likely will compete at the NCAA Preliminary Championships for the second consecutive contested season Wednesday at enters the meet with the 16th-fastest time in the east region and the 21st-fastest nationally this season.
Troy's 800m duo of Finch and Sklenska are set for a 6:50 p.m. start time of day two, the lone event for the Trojans on the day.
Sizemore and Kuessner will each compete in the high jump on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The event is slotted for a noon start on both days.
Pending qualification, the quarterfinals of the men's 200m and women's 800m will run Friday and Saturday, respectively.
