Troy honored its six seniors β Dalton Sinquefield, Zack Moore, Ryan Fultz, Lance Johnson, Max Newton and Drew Frederic β prior to the game.
Three errors plagued the Trojans (26-22, 12-9 SBC) in the contest, allowing three unearned runs to score in the game. Jesse Hall was the lone Trojan to record a multi-hit outing with a 2-for-3 day at the plate while Sinquefield logged two RBIs on his senior day.
Β
Troy struck first on a Nic Nolan sac-fly in the second but nine unanswered runs by Arkansas State (17-27, 9-12 SBC) over the next four innings gave the Red Wolves a commanding 9-1 lead. A four spot in the sixth β highlighted by doubles from Frederic, Sinquefield and Hall β got the Trojans back into the ballgame, 9-5.
Β
Six Trojan arms saw action in the contest, including Mason Kenney who made his first appearance in five weeks. Fultz, Newton and Johnson each tossed scoreless outings to give Troy a chance down the stretch, but the bats couldn't heat back up.
Β
Bay Witcher (5-3) was tagged with the loss on the mound while Carter Holt (4-3) earned the win for Arkansas State.

Quotable β Head Coach Mark Smartt
"Give Arkansas State credit, they outplayed us in every phase. They're a good offensive team and we did a good job the first two games holding that in check, but they swung the bats well today. It's disappointing that our seniors couldn't go out with a win to finish their careers. It's a great group of six guys that has gone through more adversity than any senior class has ever had to go through. How we respond to this [loss] moving forward will dictate how we finish. We haven't faced this type of adversity in a while. We've got a few days to recover and get ready for the next series."

Notable
- The loss snapped an eight-game conference winningΒ streak for the Trojans, its longest since 2011.
- Jesse Hall recorded his 10th multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
- Drew Frederic doubled for the 55th time in his career, moving himself into a tie for second place on Troy's all-time doubles list.
- Lance Johnson made his 117th appearance on the mound, the second-most among all active Division I players. The senior struck out the only batter he faced in the game, and the last batter he'll see at Riddle-Pace Field.
- Dalton Sinquefield logged his 23rd career multi-RBI game with a two-RBI double in the sixth.
Troy closes out its regular season with a road trip to Louisiana for a three-game series beginning Thursday at 6 p.m.
