Troy Hosts Appalachian State in Three-Game Weekend Set

TROY, Ala. – Troy returns to the friendly confines of Riddle-Pace Field after playing nine of its last 12 contests on the road. The Trojans welcome Appalachian State to town for a three-game set beginning Friday night at 6 p.m.

Troy has never dropped a series to the Mountaineers, but Appalachian State enters the weekend with a 6-3 mark in league play and in a tie for first place in the East Division.
True freshman Garrett Gainous will remain in the Friday night slot for Troy after impressing in his debut a week ago. Gainous struck out five, walked one and allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings against Georgia State.
Orlando Ortiz, fresh off a 10-strikeout performance in his last outing, will remain in the Saturday role while Bay Witcher will get the nod in the series finale for the eighth time this season.
Dalton Sinquefield and Rigsby Mosley are both beginning to find their rhythm at the plate. Sinquefield has four multi-hit performances in the last six games while Mosley is 4-for-8 with a pair of doubles over his last two starts.
Drew Frederic continues to lead the Trojans near the top of the lineup with a .340 average while Logan Cerny has struck a league-best 12 home runs this season.

- App State resumes its Sun Belt schedule with a 6-3 league record that has the Mountaineers tied with South Alabama for the best league winning percentage in the conference. App State swept Arkansas State at home, went 1-2 at Georgia Southern and won the first two games of a home series against Georgia State.
- App State has produced a Freshman All-American in each of the last two years (RHP Noah Hall in 2020, 2B Luke Drumheller in 2019). The Sun Belt named Drumheller, a career .317 hitter with a .290 average this year, a preseason all-conference selection in each of the last two seasons. Hall is 7-0 in his career with three saves, a 2.53 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 64.0 innings (over 25 appearances, including his first four career starts as part of a 5-0 record so far this season).
