Troy Ventures to Atlanta for Divisional Series Against Georgia State

TROY, Ala. – Troy travels north to Atlanta for a pivotal three-game series against divisional foe Georgia State. The Panthers sit one game ahead of the Trojans in the East Division standings. First pitch in the series-opener is set for 5 p.m. CT at the GSU Baseball Complex.

Winners of two straight, the Trojans sit in sixth place in the East Division with three divisional series remaining, beginning with this weekend's three-game set against the Panthers.
The Troy pitching staff has been giving the Trojans every opportunity to win games as of late, holding opponents to four or less runs in five consecutive games. Head coach Mark Smartt and pitching coach Matt Hancock have tweaked the starting rotation for the upcoming series against the Panthers.
True freshman Garrett Gainous will now throw in Friday's series-opener while Orlando Ortiz will get the nod Saturday. Bay Witcher, who has the tenth-best ERA in the league (3.55), will remain the Sunday starter.
The bats came to life in Tuesday's midweek contest against UAB. The Trojans notched six extra-base hits, including two home runs, in a convincing 12-4 victory over the Blazers.
As a squad, Troy is batting .273 on the year, which is tied for the second-best mark in the league. The Trojans have hit 32 home runs this season, paced by 11 off the bat of Logan Cerny.
Dalton Sinquefield is 7-for-9 with a home run in the last two games, including a career-best 4-for-4 day at the plate with two RBIs in Sunday's series finale against Texas State. The right fielder is batting a team-best .474 over the last five games.
