Notes: Women's Basketball Faces Texas State in Sun Belt Quarterfinals on Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team will begin play in the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals against Texas State at the Pensacola Bay Center Arena in Pensacola, Fla. on Friday, March 6, tipping off at 11 a.m. The Trojans earned the No. 1 seed in the East Division by finishing with a Sun Belt, 16 wins.

• Troy and Texas State last met in 2020 inside Trojan Arena. In that game former Trojan, Amber Rivers became the 24th member of the 1,000-point club while Japonica James had career-high 28 points in the contest on 10-of-13 shooting.

Troy ranks third nationally in points per game, averaging 86.9. They trail only Maryland (91.7) and Iowa (88.0). On the year, Troy has scored 2,086 points, the second most points scored this season behind only Arkansas who has scored 2,183 points in two more games than the Trojans. Troy and Arkansas are the only two schools who have scored at least 2,000 points this season.

TROY IN THE SBC TOURNAMENT
• Since Troy's first Sun Belt Tournament Title in 2016, the Trojans boast a 7-2 record. In those seven games, Troy is averaging 80.5 ppg while allowing just 67.6.
• Since Troy joined the Sun Belt in 2006 they have advanced past the quarterfinals four times. In quarterfinal games the Trojans are 3-6.
• This will be the first time that Troy Texas State in the Sun Belt Tournament. Of the potential semifinal opponents for Troy, the Trojans are 1-0 vs UTA, 1-1 ULM and have never played App State in the SBC Tournament.
• Although Troy is one of the most experienced teams in the Sun Belt with eight upperclassmen, the Trojans only have two players on their roster, Jasmine Robinson and Janiah Sandifer, with any SBC Tournament experience. In three career tournament games, Robinson is averaging 7.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game while Sandifer is averaging 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in two career SBC Tournament games.
• Head coach Chanda Rigby boasts an 8-5 tournament record since her first SBC Tournament in 2013.
• Troy has won seven of their last nine SBC Tournament games.
• Troy owns a perfect 3-0 record in conference tournament games when it is the No. 1 seed. In 1997 the Trojans won the Mid-Continent Conference (now The Summit League) by going 3-0 to win its first-ever tournament title. Troy was the No. 1 seed in last season's SBC Tournament before it was canceled due to COVID.
• In three tournament games as the top seed, Troy outscored its opponents by just over 18 points per game (87.6 to 69.3).
• The most points Troy has scored in a conference tournament game is 105 against Arkansas State on March 9, 2017.

ALEXUS DYE - WOW
Alexus Dye has been the best player in the Sun Belt Conference this season. Through 24 games she has earned an NCAA best, 19 double-doubles, three more than anyone else in the NCAA. Dye is one of only two Sun Belt players averaging a double-double, Felmas Koranga is the other. Dye leads the conference in rebounding (13.2 rpg) and is fourth in scoring (14.1 ppg).

Last year's senior class was the best in school history, winning 87 career games, the most in program history. This year's group of seniors (2017-pres.) has already won 84 career games.

Troy's 2020-21 roster is made up of talent from across the country and the world. Of the 13 student-athletes, eight are from different states (Alabama, Georgia, New York, Ohio, OklahomÂa, South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington D.C.) and two are from different countries (Kenya and Spain).

SUN BELT CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
Troy clinched the No. 1 seed in the East Division with its 16-2 Sun Belt record. With the No. 1 seed came a first round bye in the tournament and the luxury of playing all of its games in the Bay Center Arena.
