Troy Continues Spring Season at Jaguar Invite Friday

TROY, Ala. --Â Â The Troy Trojans track and field program will look to build off its opening meet success Friday when they again make the short trek down to Mobile for the Jaguar Invitational hosted by South Alabama.

The Trojans will face-off against representatives from Alabama State, Huntington, McNeese, Meridian, Mobile, New Orleans, South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana, Southeastern Missouri, Spring Hill, Tennessee Tech, UC Colorado Spring, West Alabama and West Florida.

Friday's action begins with the field events at 11 a.m. followed by the track events at 5 p.m. Live results should be available at PortCityTiming.com.

The Trojans men's and women's programs opened the season strong last week at the Jaguar opener, as the men's program finished in solo second just four points behind the hosts from South Alabama.
On the women's side, the Trojans finished in third place, finishing just a half-point behind South Alabama for second place. Tulane took home the top spot in the meet.

Key performances on the women's side included Gemma Finch (4:36.58), Lauren Locke (4:42.75) and Cadi Rowe (4:44.42) finishing first second and third in the 1500m, and sprinter Precious Ogba finishing first in the 100m (12:05). Edita Sklenska and Tanner Guest built on their strong indoor seasons, finishing one-two in the women's 800m.

On the men's side, Blake Vaughn impressed in the 1500m, placing first (4:02.69), while Chance Armstrong (49.21) and Reuben Dotson (49.52) finished less than a second apart in the men's 400m to take home the top two spots. In the men's 800m the Trojans placed the top-five finishers and seven of the top eight.

Following the Jaguar Invite, the Trojans will hit the road again for the Tiger Track Classic at Auburn. The multi-day event begins next Friday, Mar. 19 before Day Two closes on Saturday, Mar. 20.
