Notes: Troy Continues Road Trip With Two in Statesboro

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team will be on the road for the second-straight weekend in Sun Belt Conference play. The Trojans will travel to Statesboro, Ga. for a two-game series against Georgia Southern on Friday and Saturday. Game one of the series will tipoff at 5 p.m. (CT) with game two scheduled for a 3 p.m. (CT) start.

• In the second game of their two-game series in Troy back on Jan. 15-16, Troy earned consecutive wins number 16 and 17 against Georgia Southern. In game two Troy saw its comfortable lead evaporate in the second-half, but withstood a late game rally by Georgia Southern to earn the 82-69 victory. In the game Jasmine Robinson had a breakout performance, scoring 16-points on 4-of-10 shooting, including a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. Robinson scored eight of her 16 in a one-minute stretch late in the fourth to help thwart the Georgia Southern comeback.

Alexus Dye has been the top player in the Sun Belt Conference and one of the best players in the country. The senior is currently the only player in the Sun Belt averaging a double-double while leading the conference in rebounding (11.7 per game ) and ranking second in scoring (16.5 ppg). Dye is also leading the SBC in defensive boards per game (8.8), FG attempted (208) and made (111), FG% (53.4) and total rebounds (176). Nationally, Dye leads the country in total double-doubles (12), 7th in defensive boards, 20th in made field goals (111), 36th in field goal percentage, 92nd in ppg, 9th in total rebounds (176) and 11th in boards per game.

Troy has assisted on 269 of its 467 made field goals so far this season, or 57.6 percent of all made field goals. It's Troy's highest assist to made field goal percentage since the 2007-08 season when it assisted on 57 percent of its made field goals. Troy is averaging a Sun Belt best, 10th nationally, 17.9 assists per game. The next closest SBCÂ team is Arkansas State at just 15.8 per game. Last season Troy assisted on just 46 percent of their made field goals.

Leading the charge for the best passing team in the Sun Belt has been the Trio of point guards in seniors Jasmine Robinson and Emely Rosario and freshman Sharonica Hartsfield. Hartsfield is currently ranked fourth in the SBC in assists per game (4.3) with Robinson ranked 6th (3.5) and Rosario ranked 8th (3.4). Troy is the only team in the league with three players ranked in the top 10 in assists per game. UTA is second with two. Taking it a step further, the trio isn't turning the ball over either. Hartsfield has the best Assist to turnover ratio (3.1) followed by Robinson in 3rd (2.2) and Rosario in 4th (1.8).

For the ninth consecutive season Troy is leading the Sun Belt in scoring. The Trojans are averaging 85.3 ppg (most in the Rigby era). The next closest team is Ga. Southern who is averaging 75.3.

WINNING CONVINCINGLY
Troy has won 4 straight games by at least 20 points. The streak started back on Jan. 22 against Coastal Carolina when they beat the Chanticleers by 45. In Troy's 11 wins this season, none have been by single-digits and none have been closer than 12 points. The Trojans have not played in a game decided by 10 points or less this season as all four losses were also by double-digits.

The Trojans enter the weekend with the 7-1 SBC record and an 11-4 overall record. Both records are tops in the Sun Belt as Troy is the only SBC team with double-digit victories this season and the only team with seven conference wins.
