Troy Hits the Road for Crimson Tide Classic

TROY, Ala. – After an impressive 10-1 start to the season, the Troy Softball team embarks on their first road trip of the season as they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to participate in the Crimson Tide Classic.

The Trojans' 10-1 record marks the best start to the season since 2012, where Troy kick started the year with an 11-2 record.

Troy looks to extend its six-game win streak when the Trojans begin play on Friday against North Carolina. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Trojans return to the diamond on Saturday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Memphis before closing out play in the Crimson Tide Classic against host Alabama on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Logan Calhoun leads the way at the plate for Troy, batting at .483 a clip with a double, a triple and six RBIs.

Libby Baker (2-0) continues to impress in the circle, posting a 0.30 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 23 innings of action.
Â
Leanna Johnson's (5-1) name can be found at the top of national rankings in strikeouts. The sophomore ranks second nationally with 63 strikeouts over 33 innings of work.

- The Trojans open the weekend against North Carolina (4-1). The Tar Heels opened the season with a pair of wins over Boston College and Syracuse. Syracuse stole one of three games from North Carolina in a nine-inning affair.
- Memphis (0-4) searches for its first win of the season after falling in all four games of the Joanne Graf Classic. The Tigers fell to No. 24 Missouri and No. 12 Florida State in a pair of games.
- Alabama (9-0) plays host to its second consecutive tournament. The Crimson Tide have remained unscathed with wins over LSU, Louisville and Notre Dame.
