Troy Sets Program Record in Third Place Finish at SBC Championships

TROY, Ala. – Troy set a new program record at the 2021 Sun Belt Indoor Championships with a 90-point output at the meet. The Trojans finished in third place at the championships as a team.
Edita Sklenska set a new school and conference record in the 800m to take the gold medal in the event with a time of 2:08.34. Donisha Jeanty completed Troy's one-two finish in the event with a silver medal in 2:12.67. Tanner Guest came in sixth place with a time of 2:17.42.
Troy finished the day with a gold medal in the 4x400 with a time of 3:45.70. The relay was composed of Kasia Cooper, Vennessa Frank, Jeanty and Sklenska.
Maja Kuessner and Ines Garcia began the final day's events with the pentathlon. Garcia placed ninth with 3312 points. Kuessner found herself in fourth place, just 93 points from a podium finish, with one event remaining, but did not compete in the final event.
Troy had three finalists in the mile, the day's first running event. Lauren Locke (5:05.41) and Tanner Guest (5:10.36) finished in fifth and sixth, respectively, while Cadi Rowe (5:14.68) placed eighth.
Vennessa Frank, the lone Trojan in the 400m final, placed fifth in a time of 56.34. Jasmine Riley placed seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 24.73 seconds.
On the field side, Samara Nelson earned a bronze medal in the shot put with a mark of 14.07m. Jade Johnson led the way in the triple jump with a fifth-place finish with a mark of 12.32m.
