TALLAHSSEE, Fla. – Troy held its own Friday against a loaded field at the Seminole Intercollegiate that featured five teams in the top 25 and 12 top 100 teams; the Trojans shot 9-over par to sit in 11th place and just two shots off a top 10 finish.
Brent Hamm continued his steady play this season with four birdies en route to an even-par 72, good for a tie for 21st place overall. Playing on his home course, Bryson Bianco shot the second-best round of his career with a 2-over 74 thanks to three birdies, which placed him in a tie for 35th place.
After a rough stretch around that turn that inflated his card to 7-over par, Will McFadden finished with a flurry of birdies as he went under par on four of his final six holes of the day to end the opening round with a 3-over 75 to sit tied for 47th place overall.
Playing in his first tournament as a Trojan, Jarrod Johnson shot 4-over thanks to a run of three straight birdies on the fourth, fifth and sixth holes. He is tied for 55th place, while Ryan Morrison is tied for 81st place at 9-over. Playing as an individual, Nicklas Borrman is 84th following a round of 10-over par.
