Notes: Women's Basketball Closes Home Slate vs Georgia State; Will Honor Seniors Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team will close out its 2020-21 regular season home slate this weekend when it hosts Georgia State for two games. The Trojans and Panthers will tipoff at 6 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Prior to Saturday's 4 p.m. tipoff, Troy will honor its eight seniors on the court.

Troy has been on a mission all season, showing no mercy to its opponents. On the year the Trojans have scored at least 80 points in 15 of the 20 games they have played, while reaching the 90+ point mark in seven games. When Troy scores at least 80 they are 14-1 on the season. To go along with the high point total is Troy's margin of victory. Troy is beating teams by an average of 14.9 points per game overall and 17.5 ppg in league play. The Trojans have not played in a game that has been decided by less than five points this season, while 11 games have been won by at least 15 points.

The Trojans rank fourth nationally in points per game, averaging 86.2. They trail only Maryland (91.7), Iowa (87.4) and Towson (86.5). Troy and Arkansas are the only two schools who have scored at least 1,700 points this season.

A LETHAL OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Troy can score in bunches with weapons up and down its lineup. Troy features SIX players averaging double-digits this season; Alexus Dye (15.6), Tiyah Johnson (13.6), Felmas Koranga (12.4), Janiah Sandifer (10.5), Tyasia Moore (10.5) and Jasmine Robinson (10.2). Troy's six players averaging double-digits is DOUBLE the next closest team in the Sun Belt, Texas State and South each have just three players averaging at least 10 points per game. Not only is Troy scoring in waves, they are doing it at a high percentage. As a team, Troy is shooting 42 percent, the best team shooting percentage since the 2015-16 season when they shot 43 percent and tied for the second-best shooting percentage for Troy in the 21st Century. Individually, Dye leads the team at 51 percent followed by Moore (48 percent) and Emely Rosario (42 percent).

THE QUEEN OF GEORGIA
Jasmine Robinson really likes playing against teams from her home state of Georgia. In five games vs a team from Georgia this season, Robinson is averaging 17.2 ppg while shooting 49 percent from the field. Not only is she scoring, but Robinson is also averaging 3.8 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. From the free throw line, she has been nearly automatic, shooting 80 percent. Robinson also recorded a career-high 33 points against Georgia Southern

ALEXUS DYE - WOW
Alexus Dye has been the best player in the Sun Belt Conference since game one. Through 20 games she has earned an NCAA best, 16 double-doubles, two more than anyone else. Dye is one of only two Sun Belt players averaging a double-double, Felmas Koranga is the other. Dye leads the conference in rebounding (12.1 rpg) and is second in scoring (15.6 ppg).

• Freshman Sharonica Hartsfield has dished out 74 assists this season. Her 74 assists rank as the 78th most in the nation and is the seventh most among freshman nationally.
• Troy's seven seniors have combined to score 1,300 of the teams 1,723 points this season. The seven seniors have accounted for 75 percent of Troy's scoring.
• Senior Tiyah Johnson has been in a zone since the start of conference play. Johnson has scored at least 10 points in seven straight games and 11 of the last 13 games.
• Troy is 37-6 inside Trojan Arena in its last 43 Sun Belt Conference games. In their 50 home overall games, Troy is 44-6
• A win on Friday would be Troy's seventh straight home victory which would set a program record for consecutive home wins in a single-season. The streak started on Jan. 2 against App State.
