Troy Athletics Mourns the Passing of Alvin Dees

A standout offensive lineman for the then Red Wave, Dees joined the Troy program in 1966 after transferring from Chattanooga and helped lead Troy to the 1968 Troy NAIA National Championship in addition to a pair of Alabama Collegiate Conference Championships (1967 & 1968).
Dees was an NAIA All-Alabama and Mississippi All-District selection and All-Alabama Collegiate Conference honoree his senior season in 1968.
Named a Troy University Alumnus of the Year in 1995, Dees spent 52 years in the insurance business with the majority of his career spent at Alfa Insurance where he served as Executive Vice President of Marketing at the time of his passing. Thanks to his leadership and guidance, Dees was able spearhead a dynamic partnership between Troy Athletics and Alfa Insurance.
A private family service was held at First United Methodist Church, and an email account has been set up for friends to share their condolences and memories - alvinhdeesmemorial@gmail.com.
