TROY, Ala. – One year after making program history, Troy junior offensive lineman Austin Stidham is rewriting the record books once again as just the fifth student-athlete in Troy Athletics history to earn multiple CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Wednesday.
Â
A second-team selection for the second consecutive year, Stidham finished his first semester in graduate school with a perfect 4.0 grade point average after earning his undergraduate degree in biology/biomedical sciences with a 3.92 GPA.
Â
The CoSIDA Academic All-American program began in 1952, and recipients are voted onto the team based on both their academic and athletic achievements.
Â
On the field, Stidham, a native of Russellville, Ala., earned his third All-Sun Belt honor landing on the second team after finishing second in the league among tackles (min 400 pass blocking snaps) with a 78.2 pass blocking grade per Pro Football Focus. In addition, Stidham was not called for a penalty in a pass blocking situation all season.Â
Â
Last year, Stidham's selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team marked the first in program history for a Troy football student-athlete. He now joins David Banks (baseball), Jody Singleton (baseball), Tyler Vaughn (baseball) and Daniel Glick (track & field / cross country) as the only Troy student-athletes to earn multiple Academic All-America honors.
