Storylines
- Head coach Chanda Rigby is two wins away from earning her 400th career win.
- In her Trojan debut, Sam Houston State transfer Amber Leggett tallied 32 points. Leggett is the first Trojan since at least the 1999-00 season to hang a 30-piece in their debut.
- The Trojans had four Trojans score in double-figures during the season opener. Amber Leggett (32), Brianna Harris (18), Tina Stephens (16), Felmas Koranga (10).
- Troy earned its first win of the season in front of a record-breaking crowd of 2,784. Trojan Nation showed up loud and proud as a part of Homecoming week and set a new women's basketball attendance record in Trojan Arena.
- The Trojans boast an experienced squad with seven women already having a college degree (Jada Walton, Tina Stephens, Jasmine Robinson, Janiah Sandifer Tiyah Johnson, Brianna Harris and Jhileiya Dunlap). Felmas Koranga will graduate with her bachelors in December.
- While the Trojans have seven women on the team with college degrees already, Troy also boasts a veteran staff as Chanda Rigby enters her 10th season at the helm of the Troy Women's Basketball program. Associate head coach Jennifer Graf has been alongside Rigby all 10 season while assistants Courtney Simmons and Neil Harrow enter their ninth and seventh year respectively.
- The Trojans left off on an impressive home win streak. Troy set a single-season record for consecutive wins inside Trojan Arena at seven straight last seasons. The streak began on Jan. 2, 2020 in Troy's 85-65 win over App State with win No. 7 coming on Feb. 19 against Georgia State. Troy has now advanced that streak to nine games with the win over Talladega College.
- Exactly a week before the start of the 2021-22 campaign, Troy spent the day (Tuesday, Nov. 2) volunteering to pick up trash around Troy, hang out with the kids and work in the greenhouse at the Christian Love Center and help organize the Salvation Army.
- With Troy's 101-81 victory over Talladega College, the Trojans have now recorded at least one 100-point game in 10 consecutive seasons. The streak started in 2012-13 season with a 118-96 win over Furman in head coach Chanda Rigby's first season.
- Troy has put together the toughest schedule in Rigby's tenure, with four games against Power Five opponents set to played on the road (Missouri, Duke, Wake Forest and Mississippi State)
