Kaylon Geiger Named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Watch List

TROY, Alabama – Kaylon Geiger, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year and one of the top returning receivers in the country, has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is presented annually to the nation's top offensive player who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell. Nominees must have been born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Geiger was named the Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2019 after he finished second in the league in receptions, yards (regular season) and yards per game. His 77 receptions ranked as the third most in a season in Troy history while his 873 yards finished just shy of the top 10.
Among players active this fall, Geiger's reception and receptions per game (6.4) totals rank second nationally while his five 100-plus yard games last season are the third most.
Geiger, who was also named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List and Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team, ranked fourth nationally with receptions on 77.8 percent of his targets (77-of-99). He also cracked the Troy single-game records with 12 catches for 145 yards at Coastal Carolina; the reception tally stands fifth all-time in school history. Geiger tied a single-season Troy record as he topped the 100-yard threshold five times over the course of the season; a number that ranked 13th nationally.
