TROY, Ala. – Troy setter Amara Anderson and outside hitter Cheyenne Hayes have been named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team, the league office announced Wednesday. This marks the first time since 2013 two Trojans have received a preseason honor in the same year.

The Trojans were also tabbed to finish second in the Sun Belt East Division in a vote of the league's 12 head coaches. Troy received three first place votes and tallied the third-most points overall in the conference voting.

"I'm thankful the conference coaches are recognizing this team's progress and competitiveness as well as the talent of our players," head coach Josh Lauer said. "Cheyenne and Amara have worked very hard to be considered among the top players in our conference, and I'm excited for them and the direction of this program. We're looking forward to getting the season started and seeing what we can accomplish this year."

Troy is set to play a 16-game, conference-only schedule in 2020 beginning in late September. A final schedule will be released soon with finalized dates.

Amara Anderson
Amara Anderson, an All-Sun Belt First Team selection last season, finished the year 14th nationally in total assists (1,348) and 22nd nationally in assists/set (11.23) – both of which were league bests and cracked the top five on Troy's single-season records list.

The Alpharetta, Ga., native registered 279 digs on her way to a team-best 13 double-doubles and tallied 32 service aces to go with 55 kills on 143 attempts (.308). Anderson, a junior, has been named the Sun Belt Setter of the Week seven times during her career, the most weekly honors a Trojan has received in school history.

Cheyenne Hayes
Cheyenne Hayes, a 2019 All-Sun Belt First Team member, ranked 49th nationally with 455 kills last season, the third-most in a single season in program history and the most in the modern 25-point rally era. Her 455 kills and 3.79 kills/set both ranked third in the league.

The Newnan, Ga., native tallied 503.5 points last season, which accounted for nearly 25 percent of Troy's offensive production. Hayes became the third Trojan ever, and first in the modern 25-point rally era, to record 400 kills in back-to-back seasons. The senior finished with 288 digs and posted 10 double-doubles in 2019 – both second-bests on the team.

Hayes, a senior, enters the season seventh on Troy's all-time kills list with 1,160 career kills.
