TROY, Ala. – Troy's inaugural FOODraiser this past Saturday was a tremendous success in not only raising money for the Trojan Warrior Fund, but also by providing meals to front-line workers and those in need around the Troy community.
"We went into the FOODraiser with high expectations, and our amazing fans stepped up again and blew away our projections both on the overall meals purchased and the number of meals that were purchased for others," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "Due to our fan's generosity, we were able to raise thousands of dollars for Troy Athletics while making a difference in our community. It was inspiring to see the amount of meals that were shared with the local community and front-line workers which were the direct result of tremendous generosity from our loyal fans."
Teaming up with Hook's BBQ, Troy Athletics offered fans a family meal pack that featured pulled pork, sides and desert for just $40. In addition to the meals that were purchased for fans to enjoy with their families, nearly 100 family packs were purchased by fans to be donated across the Troy community. Those meals were distributed to front-line workers at Troy Regional Medical Center plus the Christian Love Center organized for meals to go to various families as part of their Day of Giving including those with disabilities, the elderly and families in need.
Fans who participated in the FOODraiser had their food delivered to their cars by an assortment of Troy head coaches plus T-Roy and Troy Cheerleaders.
The FOODraiser was the first of a handful of events on tap over the next couple months as Troy Athletics gears up for the 2020-21 athletic season. The annual Chip Lindsey Golf Classic is on tap for Aug. 12 at Wynlakes in Montgomery and the Football Kickoff Party is scheduled for Aug. 15 at The Vet.
