Troy Falls to Southern Miss

TROY, Ala. –Troy women's tennis ended their trip to Hattiesburg with a matchup against Southern Miss, where the Golden Eagles walking away with a 6-1 victory over the Trojans. The only bright spot came from Matea Mihaljevic who continued her winning streak.
Doubles
• In number one doubles Monique Burton and Sarah Medik defeated Anastasiia Khokhlova and Anastasiia Khrustaleva 6-3 to claim a 1-0 advantage for the Golden Eagles. • The Golden Eagles claimed another point in doubles where Katia De La Garza and Warisara Lee defeated Shevita Aulana and Matea Mihaljevic 7-6 (6), this doubles victory claimed the doubles point for Southern Miss.
• In number three doubles Southern Miss grabbed the win due to Troy not having a number three doubles pair, which made the score 3-0, giving Southern Miss the doubles point.
Singles
• The first match to conclude in singles play came from number six singles as Tanit Lopez of Southern Miss came away with the victory because Troy did not have a player in number six singles. This victory made the score 2-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
•The second singles match that concluded on the afternoon saw Anastasiia Khokhlova take on Katia De La Garza in number two singles. De La Garza took the match 6-3, 7-6, this gave the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead.
• The third match that concluded on the afternoon came from number four singles, where Ebru Zeynep Yazgan grabbed a singles victory 6-2, 6-1 over Tijana Svitlica to give Southern Miss the 4-0 victory.
• The fourth match that concluded came from number five singles saw Anastasiia Khrustaleva lose to Warisara Lee 7-6 (5), 6-1 to make the score 5-0 in favor of the Southern Miss.
• In number three singles Shevita Aulana faced off against Sarah Medik, where Medik walked away with a 6-4, 6-3 victory giving Southern Miss a 6-0 lead.
• In the final match of the afternoon, Matea Mihaljevic came away with the only bright spot on the day, where she defeated Arina Amaning 7-6 (5), 6-2, making the score 6-1 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
