Notes: Women's Basketball Looks to Avenge Lone Conference Loss at Louisiana Saturday

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball is back on the road for the first time in two weeks after playing four straight games at home. The Trojans will travel to Louisiana to take on the Ragin' Cajuns at 2 p.m Saturday inside the Cajundome. Troy will be looking to avenge its only conference loss of the season.

The Trojans travel to Lafayette, La. for a Saturday afternoon contest looking to avenge their only Sun Belt Conference loss of the season. When the two teams last met in early January Troy was on a 9-game winning streak, its longest winning streak in the programs Division 1 history. Since then Troy hasn't lost a game and enters Saturday on another lengthy winning streak, this time the streak sits at six games. The Trojans will be looking to do something they've never down in program history and that's to have multiple winning streaks of 7+ games in a single-season. Twice under the direction of head coach Chanda Rigby Troy has had multiple 6+ game win streaks (18-19 and 14-15). As has become a Troy trademark under coach Rigby, the Trojan offense is one of the best in the country averaging 80.0 points per game, the 12th best average in the NCAA.

Louisiana is the only Sun Belt team this season that has been able to beat Troy. Back on Jan. 11 ULL erased an 8-point deficit in the third-quarter to snap Troy's 9-game winning streak. In conference play this season Louisiana is 6-4 and since beating Troy they have posted a 3-3 record in SBC games while entering Saturday on a two-game losing streak with losses at home to Little Rock and on the road Thursday at South Alabama. This season Louisiana has only two players averaging double-digit points, Ty'Reona Doucet (13.0) and Brandi Williams (12.1). They also have five additional players averaging at least five points per game. They are the fourth best scoring offense in the Sun Belt at 65.4 points per game. From the field they are shooting 39 percent, fourth best average in the SBC. From deep they have posted the best 3-point percentage (33.1) but have made just 98 threes' in conference play, the 9th fewest makes in conference

Trojan Storylines
• Troy will be looking to avenge their only conference loss of the season when they take on Louisiana Saturday. Since their first meeting back in the 2005-06 season Troy has only lost to Louisiana twice in the same season once and that was during 05-06. Troy has also only lost to ULL in back-to-back games three times
• The Trojans have struggles in Lafayette posting a 3-8 record there. In their last four meetings in Lafayette the series is tied 2-2. Troy won the last meeting at Louisiana 62-55 back on Jan. 27, 2018
• With a win Saturday Troy would be 7-2 in road games. Troy's road record would be the best road start under coach Rigby and the best start since the 1991-92 season
• Troy leads the country in free throw makes (389), offensive rebounds per game (23.1), rebounds per game (55.2), total rebounds (1,158) while ranking second in free throw's attempted (571), rebounding margin (+15.0), and 12th in scoring (80.0)
• In conference play Troy is ranked 4th in blocked shots at 4.0 blocks per game. Kate Rodgers is a big reason for Troy's success ranking 3rd in the SBC with 1.6 blocks per game
• Troy has started the year 18-3 for the first time in Troy's 43-year program history
• On the road this season Troy has posted a 6-2 record. In road games they are averaging 77.6 points per game while allowing 73.8. Troy is averaging 5.9 ppg less on the road than at home while allowing 11.8 more ppg
• Between Dec. and Jan. Troy went 13-1 this season after putting together a 10-2 record between the two months last season. February gave the Trojans some trouble as they went 4-3 in the month a year ago. Troy is 2-0 so far this season in February
• Troy has scored at least 70-points in 15 straight games and 20 of the 21 games they have played this season. Troy is 17-3 when scoring at least 70-points. Troy's record for consecutive 70+ point games is 16 set last season
