TROY, Ala. -- Incoming Troy freshman Alicia Victoria and the U-20 Dominican Republic National Team continue play in the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship Saturday afternoon in Santo Domingo.
The host country advanced out of Group C to the Round of 16 Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Central time, where they will host El Salvador.
A native of Coral Springs, Florida, Victoria signed with the Trojans back on Dec. 5 and looks to make an immediate impact when she arrives on campus this fall.
A four-year member of the JP Taravella women's soccer program, Victoria led her Trojans squad to an 11-5-2 record this past season leading her team to the state playoffs.
For the tournament, Victoria has earned a pair of starts for head coach Diego Gutiérrez at center back.
"We're excited that Alicia is getting the opportunity to compete with her country on the highest level," head coach Ged O'Connor said. "Alicia's opportunity speaks to caliber of athlete that we're able to recruit here at Troy. It's a great opportunity for Alicia and should allow her to hit the ground running for us when she arrives this fall."
The Trojans have returned to the pitch for spring practice and will look to build on a 12-win 2019 campaign that saw the Trojans earn a program record seven Sun Belt Conference victories and a program record 23 SBC points.
