Women's Golf Readies for Islander Classic

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team returns to the links this week at the Islander Classic with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday at the Corpus Christi Country Club.

The Trojans are coming off an 11^th place finish in their spring opener last week at the Amelia Invitational behind a strong individual performance from Nicole Lorup, who tied for third place with a 3-under 213.

The top five finish was Lorup's fourth in sixth tournaments this season, and her two rounds under par pushed her season total to six rounds in the red. Lorup enters the Islander Classic with a 72.06 stroke average over her 17 rounds this season.

Head coach Randy Keck will roll out the same lineup behind Lorup that he featured in the spring opener with Elisabeth Preus, ShaeLee Scarberry, Anna Claire Little and Judith Castro getting the call.

Scarberry finished strong last week with an even-par 72 in the final round to rocket up the leaderboard and close out the tournament at 10-over par. Presus is second behind Lorup with 92.9 percent of her rounds counting towards the team card this season, including all three last week. Little enters the Islander Classic with a 75.11 scoring average on the year and Castro carries a 76.94 mark into the week. Keck will also turn to Ainsley Cowart and Brooklyn Bostick in a pair of individual spots.
