Junior setter Amara Anderson sits just 18 assists shy of reaching the 3,000 career assist mark entering this weekend's series. She would be just the sixth Trojan in school history to accomplish the feat. Anderson ranks fifth among all active Division I players with 2,982 career helpers.
One of Anderson's favorite targets this season, Julia Brooks, has had a stellar start to the season. The sophomore has hit over .300 in six matches this season and is the first Trojan to hit over .300 (min. 10 attempts) in four-straight conference matches since 2011.
Lacey Jeffcoat is having the best season of her career at libero, averaging 4.88 digs/set which is the ninth-best mark in the nation. The junior has an opportunity to move up Troy's all-time digs list this weekend. Jeffcoat currently sits in tenth place and just 34 digs separate her from seventh place.
After struggling early in the season, Troy seems to have finally found its groove at the service line. The Trojans are averaging 1.54 aces per set which ranks 11th nationally and is the second-best mark in the Sun Belt. Troy has struck 63 total aces which is the eighth-most in the country.
KNOW THE OPPONENT
Troy is 4-9 all time against Appalachian State and is 3-3 at home against the Mountaineers. The two sides split the 2019 series, but Appalachian State has won three of the last four meetings. Appalachian State is off to a 1-7 start to the season with their lone win coming against Georgia State on Oct. 23 in four sets. The Mountaineers are led offensively by Lexi Kohut who has 76 kills on the year. Defensively, Emma Reilly leads Appalachian State with 113 digs. Kohut and Kara Spicer each have seven aces on the season.
