Women’s Golf Climbs to Fourth on Final Day of Mercer Invitational

MACON, Ga. – Troy posted the second-best score in Tuesday's final round of the Mercer Invitational to climb a spot into fourth place. Nicole Lorup carded a 2-under 70 to move into sixth place individually to pace the Trojans.

Lorup led the field with 12 birdies over her 54 holes for the week while the Trojans paced the field as a team with 37 total birdies; six more than the next closest team. She dominated the back side of the course Tuesday with three of her four birdies on the day to flip her card from 1-over at the turn to 2-under at the end of the day.

Her top team finish marks the fourth in as many fall tournaments for the Trojans. Lorup finished the fall with a 73.00 stroke average, two top 10 finishes and four top 25 performances.

Elisabeth Preus climbed six spots into a tie for 11^th place after shooting 1-over on the day with four birdies. She carded nine overall birdies on the week, good for third place in the field.

Troy shot 4-over on the day, bested only by team champion Mercer's 4-under par. The Trojans moved past East Tennessee State on the leaderboard to finish in fourth place.

Anna Claire Little added a pair of birdies en route to a 3-over 75 on Tuesday to lock up her first top 20 finish of the fall as she finished in a tie for 19^th place.

ShaeLee Scarberry also made a climb up the individual standings to nab her third top 25 finish of the fall. She carded her lone birdie on the day on the par-5 18^th to shoot 74 in the final round and tie for 25^th place overall. Courtney Vogel had her best day of the tournament with a 6-over 78 to move up to 51^st place overall.

The Mercer Invitational was Troy's final event of the fall which saw the Trojans finish its four events with a 23-16 overall record.
