Edlund, Melillo Prepared for European Professional Soccer Debuts

TROY, Ala. -- Troy Alumnae Kiersten Edlund (C.D.Parquesol/Spain) and Natalie Melillo (F.C. Aprilia Racing Club/Italy) have signed professional European professional soccer contracts that will allow to duo to continue their soccer careers. Â

"It's great that both Kierst and Nat are taking the next step in their professional soccer journeys," head coach Ged O'Connor said. "It is every soccer players dream to play professional soccer, and so few are actually able to accomplish it, so we're very proud of both Kiersten and Natalie."

A native of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Edlund joined Club Deportivo de Parquesol back in September and played in the clubs first match back on Oct. 25 against Atletico de Madrid.

The all-time and single-season assist leader for the Trojans, Edlund will next take the pitch on Nov. 1 against Real Sporting de Gijón at 7 a.m. Central. The match will be streamed both on Twitch and YouTube.

A native of Nutley, N.J., Melillo was assigned to Aprilia Racing Club in Lazio, Italy and is scheduled to make her debut against Bologna Women next Sunday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 a.m. Central.

The Trojans leading scorer in 2018, Melillo played in 57 career games with the Trojans, scoring nine goals.
