Women's Golf Finishes Five at Callaway Gardens

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Troy battled tough conditions Wednesday afternoon in the final round of the Callaway Gardens Invite as winds reached 20 miles-per-hour. Paced by a 3-under from Nicole Lorup, the Trojans finished in fifth place in the 10-team field.

Troy entered the day in third but slipped two spots as the wind played havoc on its round. Lorup carded four birdies on the day to finish her rise up the leaderboard after she sat tied for 26^th place following the first round; she finished in a tie for seventh place for her first top 10 finish of the year. Lorup and Anna Claire Little were outstanding on the par 5 holes over the three rounds with each playing them to the tune of 3-under.

ShaeLee Scarberry recorded her top finish of the season as well as she tied for 12^th place at 6-over for the week following a 5-over 76 in Wednesday's round. After a rough start that saw her make the turn at 6-over, Scarberry settled in to card a birdie and eight pars on the back nine. She tied for the lead in the field at even par on the par 3 hole for the week.

Central Arkansas took advantage of the weather and an early tee time to shoot 4-under and claim an 8-shot victory over Middle Tennessee which played with Troy in the last groupings. The Trojans led the field on both the par 3 (+9) and par 5 (-10) holes but struggled on the par 4 holes (+50) over the course of the tournament.

Elisabeth Preus and Anna Claire Little tied for 33^rd overall after the pair both shot 3-over in the final round – Little had a pair of birdies and Preus added one. Elizabeth Caldarelli tied for 40^th after a final round 77 while Courtney Vogel finished 47^th overall.

Troy will compete one more time in the fall before breaking for the winter. The Trojans travel to Macon, Ga., for the Mercer Invitational on Nov. 9-10.
