JONESBORO, Ark. – Paced by a pair of top-10 individual performances, the Troy women's golf team sits in second place following Monday's opening two rounds of the Lady Red Wolves Classic at the Sage Meadows Golf Club.
Courtney Vogel is 1-under par following 36 holes and is in sole possession of sixth place while Elizabeth Preus is tied for ninth place at 2-over. The Trojans are 11-over par as a team and trail South Alabama by 11 shots heading into Tuesday's final round.
Vogel is third in the field on both the par 3 (E) and par 4 (-2) holes, while ShaeLee Scarberry is also third on the par 3 holes. Vogel carded a 3-under 69 in the opening round with a pair of birdies and an eagle before following with four birdies in a round of 2-over in the afternoon session.
Preus was even through the first round with four birdies before carding 17 pars and a double-bogey in a 2-over second round. Nicole Lorup is just two shots back of the top 10 at 4-over par, while Scarberry is tied for 31st thanks to Troy's second eagle of the day. Elizabeth Caldarell is tied for 65th place and Judith Castro is tied for 71st.
