TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Lady Red Wolves Classic hosted by Arkansas State at the Sage Meadows Country Club. Teams will play 36 holes on the opening day before closing out the tournament with 18 holes.
The Trojans are looking to bounce back after a slow start to their season where they finished in eighth place at the Hoover Invitational a couple weeks ago. Sophomore Nicole Lorup paced Troy's effort as she tied for 11th place after shooting 4-over; Lorup is Troy's career stroke average leader with a 73.42 mark.
"We didn't play our best to open the season, but we've had some really good practices the last two weeks and we're excited to get back on the course," head coach Randy Keck said. "If we play as well as I know we are capable of playing, then we should be near the top of the leaderboard with a chance to win."
Courtney Vogel and ShaeLee Scarberry are back in Keck's lineup after tying for 34th and 38th place and finishing a stroke apart in the season opening event, while Elisabeth Preus will also make her second appearance of the season. After playing as an individual in the season opener, Texas A&M transfer Elizabeth Caldarelli is in the lineup for the Trojans this week, while Judith Castro will play as an individual.
