Troy Track and Field Set For Samford Invite

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's and women's track and field teams return to action Thursday at the Samford Invite in Birmingham. The meet is scheduled to run all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The Trojans look to build off a solid performance at the UAB Vulcan Invitational last weekend in which they crowned two individual champions.

Michael Alvernaz tied a personal best and took home the top mark in the men's weight throw with a toss of 20.49m. On the women's side, Macki Walsh set a new school record by four seconds in the 3000m with a first-place time of 10:05.10.

Troy will look to have another great performance in the women's 800m where Tanner Guest (2nd), Alexandria Rankn (4th), Katie Smith (6th) and Sydney Singletary (10th) all placed inside the top-10.

Other Trojans coming off solid performances last weekend include Jasmine Riley and Hakim Montgomery placing second and third, respectively, in the women's 60m.
