Troy Names Jonathan Swalley Director of Marketing & Promotions

TROY, Ala. – Jonathan Swalley has been named director of marketing and promotions for Troy Athletics, Director of Athletics Brent Jones announced Wednesday. Swalley returns to Troy following a 7-month stint at Lamar as the assistant director of athletics marketing.

Swalley spent two years as a graduate assistant in the marketing and promotions office at Troy before taking the full-time role at Lamar.

"I am extremely excited to welcome Jonathan Swalley back to Troy Athletics as our director of marketing and promotions," Jones said. "As a graduate of Troy University, he already has a great deal of Trojan Pride and will bring an unmatched level of energy, dedication and excitement to this role. Jonathan has more than six years of experience at three different institutions and has been part of record-setting attendance initiatives across all sports at all three institutions."

At Lamar, Swalley oversaw the marketing and promotions efforts for all of the Cardinals' 17 sports in additional to coordinating social media efforts, working directly with Lamar students and student organizations and assisting with the creation of graphics and videos.

"As an alum of Troy University, I am extremely honored to come back home and do the job that I love for one of the best Universities in the country," Swalley said. "I want to thank Brent Jones this opportunity to return to Troy. I cannot wait to hit the ground running and be reunited with the amazing student-athletes, staff and fans of Trojan Nation."

During his first stint at Troy, Swalley oversaw all marketing and promotion efforts for the Trojan soccer, softball, volleyball and women's basketball teams. He also assisted with promotion efforts for Troy baseball, football and men's basketball.

Due to his efforts, Swalley helped Troy set the football attendance record for a season which included the first, third, eighth and 13^th highest single-game attendance marks at the time. The Troy women's basketball team also set the season record attendance in 2017-18 including the top seven single-game attendances in program history.

"We have a tremendous trajectory moving forward across the board for all of our programs," Jones said. "I have no doubt that Jonathan will play a huge role in the success of all of our teams for years to come by helping to create dynamic gameday atmospheres and building upon our already great fan base."

Swalley went to Troy following a three-year stint at Southern Miss, spending his final year as a sports marketing assistant. During his time in Hattiesburg, he worked directly with the Golden Eagles women's soccer team. In addition to coordinating several different team reunions for the program he also helped Southern Miss set a single-game record attendance through a grassroots campaign.

Swalley graduated from Southern Miss in May 2017 with a bachelor's degree in business and sports management. He received his master's in sport management from Troy in May 2019.
