TROY, Ala. – The nation's sixth longest winning streak came to an end on Saturday as Troy women's basketball fell to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 73-79. The loss drops their record to 12-3 overall and 3-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.
In the contest Troy shot 37 percent from the field on 28-of-75 shooting while Louisiana had one of their best shooting games of the season as they shot 44 percent from the field on 27-of-62 shooting. The Trojans, a 72 percent free throw shooting team on the year, had their worst day at the line this season as they shot just 45 percent on 11-of-24 shooting. The opposite was true for Louisiana, as they posted their best free throw percentage of the year at 83 percent on 20-24 shooting.
Offensively Troy was led by Jasmine Robinson and Japonica James who each posted game-highs with 20-points each. Robinson did most of her damage from behind the arc as she tied a career-high for made three's in a game with four while James had one of her most efficient games of the year, shooting 80 percent from the field on 8-of-10 shooting. Robinson added three rebounds and three assists while James had six boards, two assists and a steal. Tiyah Johnson was the only other Trojan to score in double figures with 10-points. Kate Rodgers put together another impressive game with six points and a game-high nine rebounds.
After trailing at the break for the second-straight game, this time by five points, the Trojans posted another strong third-quarter, outscoring Louisiana 22-14 and taking 52-49 lead into the final frame. In the fourth-quarter Troy struggled to stop Louisiana's Makayia Hallmon who scored all 14 of her points in the fourth. The freshman guard, who didn't attempt a shot in the first three-quarters, was 5-of-6 from the field, including 2-for-2 from deep. Hallmon finished second on the team in scoring behind Kim Burton who posted a career-high 15-points.
Records
Troy: 12-3 (3-1 SBC)
Louisiana: 10-5 (3-1 SBC)

On the outcome of the game
"Well we are pretty sad right now because we were on a pretty good roll right there and trying to take games one-by-one and this one ended up knocking us off. [Louisiana] did an amazing job and they had a great game plan and came in with great energy. When we went to our press they did a great job of handling it by going long."
On starting over next week
"It's all about the rebound, all about the bounce backs. We have to learn from our mistakes. Then it's about our attitude, effort, motivation and focus to start another streak."
