Anderson Earns Fourth League Honor of the Year

TROY, Ala. – Amara Anderson has been named the Sun Belt Setter of the Week, the league announced Monday. Anderson has garnered the weekly honor for the second week in a row and four of the last five weeks.
This marks the sixth time in her career Anderson has received the weekly honor. No other Trojan has received it more than four times.
"Amara continues to play at an elite level," head coach Josh Lauer said. "It's easy to see her impact on our offense with her assist numbers, but what goes unnoticed at times is her defensive tenacity and effectiveness from the service line."
Anderson put together another impressive week leading Troy (12-2, 2-0 Sun Belt) to a 2-0 start in conference play with wins over Arkansas State and Little Rock.
In Troy's second-ever win over Arkansas State, the sophomore recorded 47 assists while adding five kills on six attempts. Defensively, she tallied seven digs and two blocks against the Red Wolves.
Against Little Rock, Anderson registered 35 assists in three sets and was just one dig shy of her sixth double-double of the season. Anderson was physical once again at the net with three blocks against Little Rock.
Anderson continues to show she's one of the best setters in the nation, ranking sixth nationally in assists per set this season (11.44).
