BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Troy rebounded from a rocky opening round to fire a 6-over 294 and climb seven spots into 11thplace following Monday's two rounds of the Graeme McDowell Invitational at the Greystone Golf & Country Club.
The Trojans carded 13 birdies on their second trip through the golf course paced by Connor Futrell's six. The Troy junior finished the round 3-under after shooting even par in the opening trek through the course to sit tied for seventh and just three shots off the pace.
Troy is within striking distance of a top-six finish in the 19-team field with the Trojans nine shots behind Chattanooga and Southern Miss which are tied for sixth. North Florida holds a 1-shot lead over UAB, and Arkansas State is nine shots back in third.
Will McFadden ended his second round with back-to-back birdies after bogeys on eight and nine pushed his card to 3-over. The 1-over 73 settled his card at 8-over for the day and puts him in a tie for 53rd place with teammate Brent Hamm, who shot a 3-over 75 in the opening round and a 77 in the afternoon session.
Troy's other two golfers, Ryan Morrison and Jake Tiffin, are tied for 74th place at 11-over par. Tiffin rebounded from an 8-over in the opening round to shoot a 75 in round two, while Morrison shot a 78 in round one and 77 in round two.
Troy will be in the first foursome on the golf course for Tuesday's final round along with Wofford, Western Kentucky and Lipscomb beginning at 8 a.m.
