MOBILE, Ala. – Anna Claire Little fired five birdies en route to a career-best 4-under 68 to lead Troy in Saturday's opening round of the USA Intercollegiate. Troy is tied for fourth place and just six shots back of leader UAB with 36 holes to play.
Little, a sophomore from Auburn, Alabama, is playing the event as an individual so her score doesn't count towards the team card. She made the turn even after a birdie and a bogey but blistered the back side of the golf course with four birdies, including three straight right after the turn.
Nicole Lorup, Elisabeth Preus and ShaeLee Scarberry are all tied for 16t hplace at even par. Scarberry finished the round with three birdies while Lorup and Preus each finished the round with two birdies. Judith Castro is tied for 43rd at 3-over par and Ainsley Cowart shot 5-over to sit tied for 61st place.
Sarah Johnson and Brooklyn Bostick are also playing as individuals for the Trojans and they sit tied for 76th place and 93rd place, respectively.
Troy will tee off Sunday's second round beginning at 9:39 a.m. on the first tee box.
