TROY, Alabama – Twenty-five Troy University student-athletes were among the more than 500 students who received their degrees Friday at Troy's summer commencement exercises inside Trojan Arena.
Â
Some 524 students were expected to earn their degrees, of which slightly more than half received an undergraduate degree, 255 earned their master's degrees and one earned the educational specialist degree.
Â
Nine of Troy's athletic programs were represented in the ceremony led by six from the women's track & field team and five each from football and men's track & field. Five student-athletes graduated with honors including Krystin Guirey who graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Â
The commencement address was delivered by Jimmy Baker, a Coffee County native and Troy University Alumnus of the Year (2018). He was appointed to lead the Alabama Community College System in March 2017, after having served as acting chancellor since August 2016. Baker had joined the system as governmental affairs consultant.
