TROY, Alabama – Troy women's basketball will face Toledo and Kent State as part of the 2019 Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, tournament officials announced Thursday.
The Trojans will face off against Toledo at 4:30 p.m. (CT) on Dec. 19 and Kent State at 2 p.m. (CT) on Dec. 20. It will be the first-ever meeting against either team.
"It is a great opportunity for our players and staff to experience something new," Troy head coach Chanda Rigby said. "We're getting to see a different part of the country and play two teams that we've never played before. This entire year is going to be an incredible life experience for our team."
Later this month, Troy will tour France and Spain as part of its foreign tour allowed by the NCAA every four years. This trip also allows the team to hold 10 additional practices and play exhibition games abroad against international competition.
The 2019 Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic field features a competitive slate of six mid-major teams. The tournament will give fans two-days of exciting contests as four of the programs set to compete in Las Vegas earned postseason bids during the 2018-19 season.
The participating programs span coast to coast and include Georgia Southern, Kent State, Pacific, St. Francis Brooklyn, Toledo and Troy. Games will take place at the four-star South Point Hotel and Casino, a sprawling family-friendly entertainment resort.
Toledo finished last season 21-12 and advanced to the WNIT. The Rockets return seven upperclassmen in addition to Arianne Whitaker, a 6-2 transfer from Chattanooga.
Kent State is coming off a 20-win season and a berth in the WNIT. With 80 percent of its team's offense returning, the Golden Flashes are eyeing another postseason run in 2019-20.
