Webb Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

TROY, Alabama – After turning in a stellar weekend at the plate, Katie Webb has been named the Community Coffee Sun Belt Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Webb, a Salem, Alabama native, took the award after going 5-for-6 at the plate with three walks, two doubles and a team-high four RBIs this weekend.

In Friday's 10-inning showdown with rival South Alabama, Webb was perfect at the plate batting a 1.000 and turning in her 17^th multi-hit game of the season. On Saturday, Webb recorded another multi-hit game going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

The junior leads the team batting a .355 with eight doubles, three triples, a home run and 32 RBIs this season. In conference play, Webb bats a .346 and leads the team with a .481 on base percentage.

I am really proud that Katie Webb was recognized by the conference this week," head coach Beth Mullins said. "She had an outstanding week and was a big part of our two walk-off wins this last week!"

Webb and the Trojans are back in action this week as the team travels to San Marcos, Texas for the Sun Belt Conference tournament. Troy enters the tournament as the second seed with its first game scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m.
