Nicole Lorup Named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year; Lorup, Lohbauer Named All-Sun Belt

TROY, Alabama – Troy's Nicole Lorup has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Freshman of the Year, the league office announced Thursday morning. Additionally, Lorup was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team and Bianca Lohbauer was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team.
"I'm extremely proud of Nicole and Bianca, and they are both well deserving on these honors," head coach Randy Keck said. "Nicole put together one of the best years by a freshman in the entire country. She was fearless on the golf course all year, and I have no doubt that her best golf is still to come. Bianca had a tremendous career at Troy and leaves the program as a three-time All-Sun Belt performer. She was a great leader and mentor to our younger players, and this program will certainly miss her next year."
Lorup, a native of Smørum, Denmark, led Troy with a 74.17 stroke average over 29 rounds in her rookie campaign. Her average was the fifth best in the Sun Belt this season, fourth lowest in school history and the lowest by a freshman in school history.
She set the tone for the season in her first collegiate round with a 2-under 69, one of her five rounds under par on the year. Lorup posted a 2.48 score vs. par for the season and turned in three top-10 finishes and six top-25 performances over Troy's 10 events. She was responsible for six of Troy's top 10 rounds and all but two of her individual rounds counted towards the team card.
Lohbauer, a Paarl, South Africa native, finished just behind Lorup and eighth in the Sun Belt with a 74.69 stroke average her senior year. The All-Sun Belt honor is the third of her career after earning second team honors as a freshman and first team honors as a sophomore. Lohbauer saw 28 of her 29 rounds count towards the team score, and she was responsible for two of Troy's lowest five rounds this season.
Lohbauer finished her Troy career with the second-best scoring average in school history thanks to three rounds under par and two in the 60s this season. She paced the Trojans at the Sun Belt Championship after tying for seventh place, her third straight top team finish to end the season.
