Offensive Explosion Leads Troy to Rout of ULM

The Trojans (26-24, 13-12 SBC) recorded nine extra base hits, including six doubles and scored in all but three innings to take the first game of the crucial conference series. Frederic led the charge going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a triple.

All nine Troy starters finished with a base hit and eight had RBIs as the Trojans scored reached the 15-run plateau for the second time in six games. Rigsby Mosley, Frederic, Chase Smartt, Dalton Sinquefield, and Reed Smith all finished with three hits each.

Cory Gill (7-2) tossed six solid innings to earn the win. The right-hander allowed three runs on six hits and limited ULM during a pair of rallies.

The Warhawks (22-26, 10-14) picked up three hits from their first four batters scoring the game's first run on a single by Chad Bell, but Gill got some defensive help when Logan Cerny threw Bell out at second trying to stretch a single.

In the sixth, ULM scored on Masen Prososki's double down left field line. The Warhawks then loaded the bases with no outs when Gill got Logan Wurm to ground into a double play, which plated another run, but a fly ball ended the inning and the threat preserving Troy's lead, 7-3.

The Trojans' bats got hot from that point. Frederic and Smartt drove in runs with hits in the bottom half of the inning. Smartt added another run in the seventh before Troy exploded for five runs in the eighth highlighted by Frederic's two-RBI triple and Sadler Goodwin's two-run home run over the monster in right.

Sinquefield opened the scoring for the Trojans in the second with a solo home run. Smith doubld, the first of three straight in the inning, as Troy scored four runs in the frame. Manning Early drove in Sinquefield and Smartt with a double in the third building the Trojans' advantage to 6-1.

Ryan Fultz earned his second save of the season tossing the final three innings allowing a run and striking out four.

ULM starter Trey Jeans (3-8) was saddled with the loss giving up six runs on six hits in just two innings of work.

Sound "Smartt" With Your Friends
With three consecutive doubles in the second inning, Troy reached 100 doubles for the season. It marks the 10thtime the Trojans have hit 100 or more doubles in 14 seasons as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

โข Chase Smartt has record a hit in 13 straight games, multiple hits in six straight, and has multiple RBI in eight of his last 13 games.
โขย Troy has recorded nine or more extra base hits in three of its last six games.

โขย The Trojans' six doubles were the most since the team hit six against Appalachian State on April 8, 2016.

Troy and ULM will play at doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. The Trojans will host Senior Day festivities between the two games.
