Women's Relay Sets School Record at War Eagle Invitational

Auburn, Ala. – Troy track & field women's 4x100-meter relay team highlighted action for the Trojans at the War Eagle Classic by setting a school record on Saturday at Hutsell-Rosen Track at Auburn.Â

Seniors Niata Alexander, Gabrielle Henderson and Sydney Wright and freshman Maya Kelly teamed up in the 4x100m relay to run a school record time of 45.42 seconds, crossing the finish line in fifth.Â

SPRINTS
In the 200m race junior Matthew Likely paced the Trojans with a ninth-place finish in 21.26 seconds. For the women, Wright led Troy crossing the finish line in a season best time of 24.55 seconds.Â

Alexander set her personal record and moved to second all-time at Troy in the 400m race with a time of 53.69 seconds, good for second place. As of today, Alexander's 400m time is more than one second faster than second-quickest time in the Sun Belt.Â

Sophomore Madison Kennedy ran a season best time of 55.17 seconds, landing her in 10th place in the 400. On the men's side, sophomore Jordan McCleskey paced the Trojans finishing in ninth with a time of 48.49 seconds, his season best.Â

DISTANCE
Junior Gemma Finch finished second in the 800m race with a time of 2:09.33. Senior Tiarra Bailey (2:15.22) and freshman Tanner Guest (2:15.51) finished the 800m race in seventh and eighth respectively.Â

In the 1500m race senior Brennan Garriques finished third in a personal record time of 3:56.87. Freshman Blake Vaughn (4:13.41) and junior Austin Gray (4:18.75) finished sixth and eighth, respectively. Guest finished the race in a season-best time of 4:36.84, good for seventh place.Â

HURDLES
Junior Alexis Garrett led the way for Troy in the 100m hurdles, finishing in sixth place with a time of 14.34 seconds. Sophomore Michaela Thompson finished the race in a personal record time of 14.63 seconds.

Junior Casimir Tawiah crossed the finish line in fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.26 seconds. In the 400m hurdles, sophomores Jordan Mereus (eighth) and Daquan Coleman (ninth) finished the race in respective times of 53.81 (personal record) and a season best 53.93 seconds.

THROWS
Junior Austin Snyder launched a personal record mark of 15.79m in the shot put to secure eighth place. Fellow junior Jess Jacobsen landed right behind Snyder in ninth place with a throw of 15.19 meters.Â

Jacobsen also notched a top-10 finish in the discus, finishing fourth with a time of 46.01 meters. In the hammer throw junior Caleb Brown landed in ninth place with a mark of 52.43 meters.Â

"It wasn't a bad showing this week. There were some performances that were flat, but I do think some of it had to do with having most of the meet at Ole Miss canceled last weekend. We are entering the championship segment of competition now and we are in good shape."
